Last week, I paid my friend Eike Freese (Hammer Recording Studios Hamburg) a visit.

Luckily, I was able to meet there with Michael Kiske. We had the most amazing conversation for hours which included two recoded interviews about Singing (one in German and one in English).

Thanks to Michael for sharing so many BIG thoughts, Eike for beeing such a great host in spite of his full schedule and Sebastian Vollmer for the patience with my emails!

Here’s the interview in English:

Jeff Scott Soto

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Jeff Scott Soto (Journey, Talisman, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Yngwie Malmsteen, and many more) when he stayed at Ballroom Osnabrück.
With improvised lighting and a little bit of soundcheck-noise in the background, we were talking about Jeff’s way into singing, a little technique, a little about rasp, vocal health, performance,…
Thanks to Jeff for beeing so kind, open-minded and supportive and also Otti of Ballroom Osnabrück for making this possible!

New interviews

Posted: 12th Mai 2011 by Marko in News

Hi singers!

There’s a video-interview online with Chris Boltendahl (Grave Digger). Another one of Seeb Levermann (Orden Ogan) will be up within a few days.

To give you a peak about what’s to come in near future – I will have an interview with a doctor of phoniatry and will be discussing several aspects of the physics of the voice.
And the band Van Canto accepted my interview request. There will be a lot of interesting vocal stuff to talk about.

I’ve been asked to do interviews with a lot of singers – Among others, most of them wanted me to have interviews with Michael Kiske and Angela Gossow. Okay folks, I’ll do my best to get in contact with these two amazing vocalists.

Stay tuned,

Marko

Hey folks!

Often I am suprised that vocal students, who had other vocal teachers before, still got no idea of breath control – or even the importance of it.
For voice contol and Singing with Power your breathing technique, -constitution and the ability to support each tone/vowel/… with the right vocal pressure are of the utmost importance.
When you want a faster car you can try different set of tyres, a sports exhaust or whatever – but what really works is a powerful motor!

Due to the fact that a singer first has to learn conscienceness for all these things feel within your body and how to reproduce them when necessary I try to give some explanation and some exercises in this video:

Philosophy of Vocalcoaching

Hey folks!

The Design of this website changed slightly, new functions added, and a few videos in the cutting-room… Stay tuned!

Here’s a quote from my upcoming book about vocal technique:

“Having 100 vocal students may require
100 different ways of teaching the same thing.”
